Buddy was a very successful farmer where he grew tobacco, corn, pecans and peanuts. He also raised hogs and cattle.  His hard work earned him the Man of the Year in Soil and Water Conservation.

Buddy was a man of strong faith and was a lifelong member of the Cairo Presbyterian Church where he served as chairman of board of deacons and clerk of session as well as many other committees.  He served a total of 50 years as a church officer.

Buddy married the love of his life, Lois Harrell Clark, on November 4, 1951.  They worked side by side on the farm.  She was his helpmate as well as soulmate. Their family farm was recognized as a Centennial Family Farm in 2012 by the State of Georgia.  They were married 67 years before she died in 2018.

He is survived by his four children Arthur Braxton Clark (Belinda Long) of Leesburg, GA; Nancy Rebecca Clark Coleman (Thomas R., Jr.) of Hartsfield, GA; Sandra Lois Clark of Cairo, GA; and Mary Brenda Clark Chandler (Don) of Hull, GA.  He is also survived by grandchildren Amy Rebecca Clark Blalock (Ronnie) of Doerun, GA; Clark Coleman (Paige Eubanks) of Memphis, TN and great-grandchildren Coen Watson Coleman, Maeve Wise Coleman, and Nora Claire Coleman of Memphis, TN.  Buddy is also survived by sisters Opal Owens Prince of Cairo, GA; Marilyn Clark Simpson of Eastman, GA, along with nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by siblings Ethel Clark Watkins, Adrian Clark, Kater “Sonny” Clark and Foye Clark.

Services will be at the Cairo Presbyterian Church on September 9, 2023, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Becky Willis officiating. Visitation will be in the sanctuary one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be private at Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Arthur Clark, Thomas Coleman, Don Chandler, Clark Coleman, Ronnie Blalock, Steve Clark and Willie Prince.  Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Harrison, Carl Harrison, Don Sullivan, and Bob Bearess.
