Memorial services for Donald Eugene Carter, 78, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Faith Christian Center, Cairo, GA. Rev. David Coleman, Sr. will officiate. Mr. Carter passed away at his home on Thursday, October 9, 2025.

Mr. Carter was born on December 13, 1946, in Peoria, IL, to the late Clifford Carter and Verna Adams Carter. On February 11, 2012, he married Lavonia Singletary Carter. He retired as a machinist with Caterpillar, Inc. He was a devoted member of Faith Christian Center in Cairo.

Survivors include: his wife, Lavonia S. Carter of Cairo, GA; children, Timothy Carter of Washington, IL, Jo Anna Hindahl of Pekin, IL; stepchildren, Jason Tillis of Monterey, TN, Mark Tillis of Newnan, GA, Lisa Bable of Olive Branch, MS; grandchildren, Tevon Hindahl, Jackson Carter, Julia Tillis, Lauren Tillis, Megan Ramsey, Kevin Bable; brother, John Carter of Peoria, IL; sister, Barbara Kelly of Peoria, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife, Sharon Carter, who preceded him in death in 2009; and brothers, Ronald Carter and Robert Carter.
