Marlene Harriett Sanders

Funeral services for Marlene Harriett Sanders, 77, of Whigham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 6, 2025, at Reno Baptist Church, Reno, GA. Rev. Jim Weaver will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Sanders passed away at her home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

Mrs. Sanders was born on July 27, 1948, in Aiken, SC, to the late Harrison Elliott and Ruth Speir Elliott. On Aug. 6, 1967, she married James Augustus Sanders, who preceded her in death on February 28, 2011. They were married for over 44 years. She retired as a bookkeeper.

Survivors include: children, Kelley Poitevint of Whigham, GA, Stacey Sanders (Rachel) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Brandon Poitevint of Whigham, GA, Remi Sanders, Ranger Sanders, both of Cairo, GA; sisters, Debbie Parks (Ken) of Warrenville, SC, Betty Tullis (Johnny) of McCormick, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to Tammy and the Gentiva Hospice Staff for the excellent care, support and love given to Mrs. Sanders.

The family will receive friends at Reno Baptist Church immediately following the service.
