Funeral services for Betty Jean Sellers Bell, 87, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Family Worship Center, Cairo, GA. Brother Jerry Vick will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in the Cairo Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Bell passed away at her home on Monday, September 21, 2026.
Active pallbearers will be Sam Wilder, Gavin Wilder, Mike Gainous, Tracy Walden, Rusty Bell, and Steve Roberts. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Maxwell, Billy Welch, Rusty Jenkins, Ricky Singletary, Caylor Outzs, Phillip Drew, Glen Ponder, Johnny Mack Butler and Jerry Tate.
Mrs. Bell was born on March 14, 1939, in Cairo, GA, to the late William Alton Sellers and Hattie Lucille Burns Sellers. On February 27, 1955, she married W. Rayford Bell, who preceded her in death on November 17, 2015. She was the owner and operator of Cairo Realty in Cairo. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cairo.
Survivors include: her son, Richard Bell (Selina) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Brock Bell, Grayson Bell (Jess), both of Cairo, GA, Jeremy Gainous (Breanna) of Bainbridge, GA, Leslie Ann Prince (Heath) of Cairo, GA, Brandy Chason of Cairo, GA, Tyler Chason of Cairo, GA; son-in-law, Leon Gainous of Cairo, GA; siblings, Maxine Wilder Price of Robertsdale, AL, Roy Sellers (Faye) of Cairo, GA, Alvin E. Sellers of LaGrange, GA; sister-in-law, Dot Whitfield of Taylors, SC; and a host of treasured nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, W. Rayford Bell; daughter, Sharon Bell Gainous; siblings, William Gene Sellers, Albert Whitfield, Sam Whitfield, Bill Whitfield and Kathleen W. George.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Bell’s memory to: Tunnel To Towers Foundation; or the Alzheimer’s Association.
The family extends special thanks to Lynn Cox, Mary Stewart, and Keyonna Williams for the love, care, and kindness they so graciously extended to Betty Jean.
