John Stewart LeGette, Jr.

John Stewart LeGette, Jr., 65, of Cairo, GA, passed away on May 12, 2026. John passed away on his mother’s birthday. Graveside memorial services will be at a later date.

John was born on November 4, 1960, to the late John S. LeGette, Sr. and Chloe Malone LeGette in Cairo, GA. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Cairo. He graduated from Cairo High School in 1979. He served in the Army National Guard in the early 80’s. John then went into banking to follow in his father’s footsteps at Cairo Banking Company. He later went into trucking with RBI Trucking retiring in 2025. John was happiest when he was playing golf or watching Georgia football.

He is survived by his sisters, Chloe Thomas (Chuck), Katherine Stoddard and Suzanne Carnline, all of Cairo, GA. Also survived by his nieces and nephews, Kit Thomas, Charles Thomas, Dustin Thomas (Hannah), Daniel Stoddard, Samantha Page, Sarah Smith (Shelby), and John Braxton Carnline (Cierra). He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Malone LeGette.
