Funeral services for Betty Ann Cook Thomas, 81, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 1, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church, Calvary, GA. Rev. Rob Cronin will officiate. Services will conclude at the church. Private interment will be in Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mrs. Thomas passed away at Archbold Living in Cairo, GA, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Mitchell, Chris Hagan, Todd Whigham, Jr., Daniel Dekle, Jason Harrell, Larry Litton and Michael Cook.

Mrs. Thomas was born on October 4, 1944, in Cairo, GA, to the late Gordon Cook and Alma Cook Shores. On December 31, 1987, she married Otis Lee Thomas, who preceded her in death on April 17, 2017. They were married for over 29 years. She retired from the State of Florida Department of Transportation as a clerk. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Calvary, GA. Betty was a great cook and shared her cakes with family and friends. Cooking was her love language. She loved a great cup of blended coffee and she got excited when the Krispy Crème Donut sign showed “they’re hot.”. She loved trips with her daughter, Lisa. She loved all her children and generations of grandchildren. Her dog went everywhere with her.

Survivors include: daughters, Lisa W. Hagan of Cairo, GA, Tammie W. Dekle (Daniel) of Calvary, GA; sons, Todd J. Whigham (Brenda) of Cairo, GA, Ronald Thomas (Diane) of Calvary, GA; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Cook of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Gordon Cook and Alma Cook Shores; her husband, Otis Lee Thomas; siblings, Roger Cook, Tommy Cook, Jimmy Cook; and a son-in-law, Ken Hagan.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Thomas’ memory to: Calvary Baptist Church, P. O. Box 180, Calvary, GA 39829.

The family will receive friends at Calvary Baptist Church on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
