Verna Claire Parrott Devney
September 28, 1948 – March 5, 2026

Verna Claire Parrott Devney, 77, of Ochlocknee, GA, passed away at her daughter’s home in Ochlocknee, GA, on March 5, 2026. Her ashes will be returned to Ohio for entombment, and the family will have a memorial service at that time.

Mrs. Devney was born on September 28, 1948, in Cincinnati, OH, to the late William Allen Parrott and Laverne Wilson Parrott. On March 24, 1969, she married Jesse Lee Devney, who preceded her in death on June 29, 2000. She retired as a manager in the restaurant industry. She was a member of Mt. Orab Church of Christ in Mt. Orab, Ohio.

Survivors include: her children, Teressa Devney of Kentucky, Jesse Devney, Jr. of Florida, Anthony Devney of Cincinnati, OH, Laverne Chason (Jonthan) of Ochlocknee, GA, Michelle Devney of Coolidge, GA; grandchildren, Elizabeth Mays (Carl, Jr.) of Elsmere, KY, Michael Guerra of Covington, KY, Mathew Guerra of Berlin, GA, Ezavell Guerra of Meigs, GA, Terance Devney Guerra of Ochlocknee, GA, Steven Vanerdergriff of Kentucky, Sara Devney of Texas, Jesse Devney, III, of Texas, William Devney (Sara) of Moultrie, GA; Carl, Carson, Carter, Jamie Lynn, Kallam, Khris-Lynn; siblings, Nancy Woodall of Tampa, FL, Debra Parrott of Colorado Springs, CO; nieces and nephews, Charles Woodall (her favorite), George Woodall, Donald Woodall, Nancy Lynn Woodall, Charles Parrott, Joedon Parrott, Joseph Devney, Chinthia Devney, Tammy Devney; and a host of extended family.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Willian and Laverne Parrott; husband, Jesse L. Devney, Sr.; siblings, William Parrott, Jr., George Woodall, Wilma Parrott, George Devney, Sybal Devney, Joe Devney, Johnny Devney; and her mother-in-law, Mary Devney

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Devney’s memory to help the family return her ashes to Ohio to be interred alongside her husband and create a memorial in stone work.
