Horace Levaughn “Von” Bond

Funeral services for Horace Levaughn “Von” Bond, 79, of Whigham, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2026, at Pine Level Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. James Knight and Rev. Steve Poppell will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Level Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Bond passed away at his home on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Active pallbearers will be Ken Bond, Wes Williams, Jamie Owens, Frankie Courtney, Trey Coutrney and Ricky Powe. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of Von’s currents business operations.
Mr. Bond was born on August 28, 1946, in Cairo, GA, to the late George Bond and Wilma Williamson Bond. On July 12, 1963, he married Mary Alice Scott Bond. They have been married for 62 years. Over the years, he was employed with McClenny Furniture Company, Barnes Print Shop as an offset printer, lineman with the City of Cairo, Georgia Telephone Company, paper route and contract mail route. Von went on to own and operate Bond’s Liquid Propane, Septic Tank and Tire. Von’s hobbies were work, work and more work. He loved helping people. He also served as a Grady County Commissioner and was on the design committee to rebuild after the courthouse fire. He was a member of Pine Level Baptist Church in Cairo.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Alice Scott Bond of Whigham, GA; daughter, Teresa Bond Knight (Joe) of Cairo, GA; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Anderson Bond of Cairo, GA; grandson, Ferris Taylor (Lauren) of Pelham, GA; great-grandchildren, Garrett Taylor and Rhett Taylor, both of Cairo, GA; siblings; Roger Bond (Henrietta) of Cairo, GA; Beth Owens of Cairo, GA, Roberta Williams of Cairo, GA; his best friend and canine companion, Rosco Bond; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, George and Wilma Bond; and a son, Michael “Mike” Levaughn Bond.
