Ray Jeffrey “Jeff” Hattaway

Graveside services for Ray Jeffrey “Jeff” Hattaway, 76, of Calvary, GA, are at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Coolidge, GA. Rev. Kerry Walsh will officiate. Mr. Hattaway passed away at Centre Pointe Health and Rehab in Tallahassee, FL, on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
Active pallbearers will be Kyle Ragan, Mickey Thomson, Gary Knight, Russ Knapp, Brian Marshall, Trevor Marshall, Buzzy Ireland.
Mr. Hattaway was born on February 3, 1949, in Miami, FL, to the late Raymond Elmer Hattaway and Dorothy Makamson Hattaway. Jeff received his master’s degree in German Language and Literature, as well as Foreign Language Education. He was employed with Florida State University as a German Language Professor and a Master Carpenter for College of Music. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Big Creek Baptist Church in Coolidge.
Jeff had an intense love for his family, his friends and vintage motorcycles, particularly Royal Enfield. He loved old cars, and traveling to vintage car and motorcycle events. He was quite the celebrity, and everyone loved him who met him. He loved European travel and German Language and culture.
Survivors include: his sisters, Lizabeth Hattaway Thomson (Kirk) of Cairo, GA, Teresa Hattaway O’Reilly (Tom) of Seaford, VA; nieces and nephews, Valerie Edenfield (Will), Kyle (Erika) Ragan, Mickey Thomson (Samantha), Ashley Thomson, James O’Reilly and Kevin O’Reilly (Victoria); a host of great nieces and great nephews and extended family; Jeff’s ex-wife and best friend, Jennifer Hattaway Borchardt of Crawfordville, FL (fiancé William Beck); and Jennifer’s children, Eli Borchardt and Reilly Borchardt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Dorothy Hattaway and a great-nephew, Christopher Jacob Norman.

The family will receive friends at Big Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, January 24, 2026, the hour prior to service.
