John Robert “Johnny” Baggett
January 14, 1962 – November 7, 2025

Funeral services for John Robert “Johnny” Baggett, 63, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 10, 2025, at Providence Baptist Church, Whigham, GA. Rev. Veon Williams will officiate. Interment will be in Providence Community Cemetery, Whigham, GA. Mr. Baggett passed away at his home on Friday, November 7, 2025.

Active pallbearers will be Greg Cumbie, Shawn Miller, David Fincannon and Ernie Duncan.

Mr. Baggett was born on January 14, 1962, in Cairo, GA, to the late Marvin Eugene Baggett and Lila Sue Collins Baggett. On April 19, 1980, he married Cindy Tuggle Baggett. They have been married for 45 years. He was the warehouse manager for the Oil Dri Corporation. He has been employed there for over 30 years. He was known by several nicknames: Johnny, Coach Johnny, Johnny B, or Moe. He was of the Baptist faith.

Johnny dedicated over 30 years to coaching youth softball and basketball with the Grady County Recreation Department, touching the lives of three generations of female athletes. His impact on the community was immeasurable, and he was truly beloved by all who knew him. When he wasn’t coaching, the “Crabman,” as he was known in East Point, FL, could be found fishing, crabbing and eating his weight in oysters. But nothing brought him more joy than being “Pops” and enjoying and exploring the simple pleasures of country life with his two granddaughters, Evan and Ellis.

Survivors include: his wife, Cindy T. Baggett of Cairo, GA; daughter, Christina Wiginton (Kyle) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Evan Fehran Wiginton and Ellis Dyar Wiginton, both of Atlanta, GA; stepfather, Dewey Arnold Thompson of Cairo, GA; siblings, Mark Baggett (Karen) of Fortson, GA, Carol Cunningham (Chris) of Pensacola, FL, Connie Walker (fiancé, Glenn Molloy) of Sanderson, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: by parents, Eugene and Sue Baggett Askew Thompson; and a daughter, Fehran Lee Baggett.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Baggett’s memory to: the Grady County Recreation Department, 45 Long Branch Road, Cairo, GA 39827.

The family will receive friends at Providence Baptist Church on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
