Funeral services for Jackie Lane Barrett, 68, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Cairo, GA. Rev. David Pickering will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Barrett passed away at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home in Thomasville, GA, on Saturday, July 9, 2016.

Active pallbearers will be: Cole Prince, Spencer Barrett, Ryan Andrews, Micky Davis, Kep Phillips, Brandon Ponder, Charles Whigham, Douglas Harrell, Caylor Ouzts, Jonathan Herrmann and Brice Ponder. Honorary pallbearers will be: Morris Anderson, Jerry Prince, Kenneth Butler, Clyde Davis, Bobby Williams, Mike Gainous, David Harrison, George Serapin, Bobby Woodell, Rufus Ouzts, Paul Harrell, Ray Prince, Carroll Hopkins, Bobby Godwin, Richard Bell, Jackie Williams, Lee Harrison, Billy Joe Harvey, Ronnie Gainous and David Strickland.

Mr. Barrett was born on December 20, 1947, in Cairo GA, to the late J.M. Barrett and Tollie Hurst Barrett. On June 21, 1968, he married Debra Trawick Barrett, who survives. He farmed for most of his life with his family; starting with his mother and father, and then with his wife, daughter, and sons. Jackie loved the job of providing food and fiber for the world. He shared that love of farming and hard work with his family; especially his two sons, who work in the field of agriculture every day. Jackie was a row crop farmer who grew tobacco, corn, cotton, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans. His love of agriculture is continuing today in his grand-boys.

Survivors include: his wife, Debra Trawick Barrett of Cairo, GA; daughter, Dawn Barrett Knight of Cairo, GA; sons, Josh Trawick Barrett (Kerri) of Cairo, GA, Justin Trey Barrett (Lynlee) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Lindsey Knight Boyles (Ethan) of Boston, GA, Jakson Barrett, Jaken Barrett, Colton Barrett, all of Cairo, GA; sister, Becky Walden of Sandy Springs, GA; brother, Dennis Barrett of Atlanta, GA; mother-in-law, Gloria Trawick of Cairo, GA; nieces, Vataloa Walden of Marietta, GA, and Danica Fowler of Dallas, GA.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and father-in-law, Nathan Trawick.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, an hour prior to the funeral service.
