Freeman Benjamin Walden
October 15, 1930 – September 14, 2016

Funeral services for Freeman Benjamin Walden, 85, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Richard Taylor and Pastor DeWayne Atkinson will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Walden passed away at Select Specialty Hospital in Tallahassee, FL, on Wednesday morning, September 14, 2016.

Active pallbearers will be Danny Harrell, Sam Harrell, Ronald Johnson, Robert Humphries, Gary Cottles, Hardy Dollar and Lynnwood Busby.

Mr. Walden was born on October 15, 1930, in Cairo, GA, to the late Benjamin Frank Walden and Evie Ferrell Harris Walden. He served his country in the Georgia National Guard. On November 3, 1950, he married Lorene Owen Walden, who survives. He retired as a diesel truck technician from Adams International. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Freeman was a lifetime supporter of the Cairo High School Football. He loved traveling and camping.

Survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Lorene Owen Walden of Cairo, GA; daughter, Tammie W. Harrell (Tim) of Whigham, GA; son, Glenn D. Walden (Cindi) of Crawfordville, FL; grandchildren, Talia H. Stewart (Michael) of Loganville, GA, S. Dustin Harrell (Jenny) of Bainbridge, GA; great-grandchildren, Gavin Stewart and Cameron Stewart, both of Loganville, GA, Annebelle Harrell and C.J. Staples, both of Bainbridge, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Exie Draughton, Effie Harper, Orie Walden, Myrtle Wilkes, Evelyn Simmons; and a brother, Talbert Harris.

Memorials may be made in Mr. Walden’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, September 17, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., the funeral hour.
