Funeral services for Paul Ponder, 70, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Springhill United Methodist Church, Whigham, GA. Pastor Steve Poppell will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mr. Ponder passed away at his home in Cairo, GA, on Saturday, June 17, 2017.

Active pallbearers will be: Jarred Andrews, Patrick Brown, Jayce Harris, Blake Welch, Roy Adams, Trey Best and Darren Ponder. Honorary pallbearers will be: Tom Sumnter, Rusty McDaniel and Pharis Johnson.

Mr. Ponder was born on November 8, 1946, in Cairo, GA, to the late Joseph Gordon Ponder, Jr. and Mattie Lou Boutwell Ponder. He was married to Mary Alice Willis Ponder, who preceded him in death on December 30, 2007. He was a farmer all of his life.

Survivors include: daughter, Dawn Ponder of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Cadence Brown of Cairo, GA, Aaliyah Cooper of Cairo, GA; brothers, William Ponder (Laverne) of Bainbridge, GA, Benson Ponder (Rosa) of Jacksonville, GA, Joe Ponder (Cleo) of Cairo, GA, Charles Ponder (Teanna) of Cairo, GA; sisters, Faye Dozier (Leo) of Jesup, GA, Mattie Lou Adams (Roy) of Bainbridge, GA; and a host of extended family, special nieces and nephews, Micheal Ponder, Darren Ponder and Carlee Willis.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; wife; brothers, Abner Ponder, Danny Ponder; mother-in-law, Josephine Willis; and a brother-in-law, Freddie L. Willis, Sr.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Monday, June 19, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
