Nancy Crymes Hughes

Funeral services for Nancy Mildred Crymes Hughes, 92, of Columbus, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2018, at the First Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Ron McCaskill will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. Hughes passed away at Spring Harbor at Green Island, Columbus, GA, on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.

Mrs. Hughes was born on July 19, 1925, in Meherrin, VA, to the late Durrell Edward Crymes and Mary Hazel Savoy Crymes. On August 27, 1953, she married Harry Max Hughes, who preceded her in death on December 27, 1996. She retired as a supervising nurse with Southwestern State Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cairo, GA.

Active pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Graham, Gary Walden, Wayne Tootle, Louis Butler, David Coley and Larry Rawlins.

Survivors include: her children: Sue Ellen Williams (Bob) of Columbus, GA, Harry M. Hughes of Danville, VA, Benjamin N. Hughes (Kim) of Las Vegas, NV, Charles V. Hughes of Americus, GA, Timothy D. Hughes of Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Jessica Jeffries (Joshua) of Sidney, MT, Jennifer Corcoran (Blake) of Smiths Station, AL, Robert Williams (Rachel) of Wilmore, KY, Jonathan Williams (Ciara) of Fountain, CO, Max Hughes (Kristen) of Greenville, SC, Daniel Hughes (Erin) of Columbia, SC, Ryan Lundy (Megan) of Las Vegas, NV, Danielle Grossman (Paul) of Bowie, MD, Justin Lundy (Melissa) of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren, Kenneth C. Corcoran of Smiths Station, AL, Max R. Corcoran of Smiths Station, AL, Christopher D. Hughes of Greenville, SC, Alexander J. Hughes of Greenville, SC, Jackson R. Hughes of Greenville, SC, Ayden J. Foreman of Las Vegas, NV, Emma B. Lundy of Casa Grande, AZ, Paul E. Grossman of Bowie, MD, Amelia B. Grossman of Bowie, MD, Lucas B. Lundy of Las Vegas, NV, Baliee I. Randall of Las Vegas, NV; and a brother, Joseph Crymes (Cathy) of Ithaca, NY.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; brother, Jack Crymes; and a sister, Ellen Wilkinson.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Hughes’ memory to: Missions at Cairo First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1538, Cairo, GA 39828.

The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of Cairo First Baptist Church the hour prior to the service.
