Nancy Banks Turner

Funeral services for Nancy Elizabeth Banks Turner, 85, of Cairo, GA, are at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at First Freewill Baptist Church, Cairo, GA. Rev. Tony Plymel, Rev. Daniel Copeland and Rev. Eric Mitchell will officiate. Interment will be in the Banks Family Cemetery, Spence Community of Grady County. Mrs. Turner passed away at her home in Grady County, GA, on Sunday, April 24, 2016.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Mrs. Turner was born on November 2, 1930, in Spence, GA, to the late James Perry Banks and Allie Thompson Banks. On March 23, 1946, she married Rev. Willie Gus Turner, who preceded her in death on August 9, 2012. She retired from the Torrington Company. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include: sons, Willie Larry Turner (Joy) of Blakely, GA, Benjamin Mack Aldridge of Boston, GA; daughters, Brenda Gail Copeland (Roy) of Perry, FL, Kathleen Elizabeth Plymel (Tony) of Thomasville, GA, Staffie A. Thomaston (James) of Cairo, GA; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Barns (Raymond) of Camilla, GA; and a brother, Curtis Banks of Winter Haven, FL.

She was preceded in death by: parents; husband; son, John Willie Aldridge; daughter, Helen Jane Aldridge Peek; sisters, Cathline Shiver, Nadine Stevens, Maggie Stevens, Ruth Daniels; brothers, Wyndell Banks, Hollis Banks, Huey Banks; grandchildren, Michael Andrew Copeland and David Anthony Plymel.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. Turner’s memory to: First Freewill Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
