Mae Smith McLendon

Funeral services for Mae Smith McLendon, 84, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 15, 2016, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Rev. Rod Brinkley will officiate. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. Mrs. McLendon passed away at her home in Cairo, GA, on Wednesday, October 12, 2016.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Mrs. McLendon was born on August 15, 1932, in Colquitt, GA., to the late John Smith and Trudie Belle Tiner Smith. On October 9, 1953, she married William M. McLendon, who preceded her in death on September 10, 1992. She worked with Ithaca as a seamstress and later with the Grady County Board of Education in the Job With Dignity Program. Mae was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her children, Brenda McLendon Reeve of Virginia Beach, VA, Daniel Mac McLendon (Cheryl) of Cairo, GA, Phillip Eugene McLendon (Sandee) of Cairo, GA, Sheila McLendon Singletary (Shelton) of Cairo, GA; grandchildren,Trent Reeve (Cara) of Kennesaw, GA, Tracee Todd (Jeremy) of Syracuse, UT, Rhiannon M. Patrizi (Robert) of Cairo, GA, Jessica M. Thompson of Cairo, GA, Erika M. Harrison (Shawn) of Cairo, GA, Amanda M. Colvin (Robert) of Tallahassee, FL, Phillip E. McLendon of Cairo, GA, Adam E. McLendon (Brooke) of Cairo, GA, Katelynn A. Singletary of Cairo, GA, Taylor M. Singletary of Cairo, GA; great-grandchildren, Hannah Reeve and Colin Reeve both of Kennesaw, GA, Austin Forney, Adison Edmonds and Wyatt Todd, all of Syracuse, UT, Camryn Patrizi and Connor Patrizi, both of Cairo, GA, Austin Sellers, Toby Sellers, and Daniel Thompson, all of Cairo, GA, Robert Colvin and Andrew Colvin, both of Tallahassee, FL, Judson Tyner Harrison of Cairo, GA, Braxton McLendon of Cairo, GA; brother, Jack Smith of Newton, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by: parents; husband; brothers, Floyd, Robert and Joe Smith; sisters, Ossie Adkins, Toy Sheffield and Barbara Gray.

Memorials may be made in Mrs. McLendon’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Saturday, October 15, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., the funeral hour.
