John Wayne Meadows

Funeral services for John Wayne Meadows, 84, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA. Dr. Ron McCaskill, Rev. Eric Mitchell and his grandson, Eric Elkins will officiate. Services will conclude at the Clark Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA. God called Mr. Meadows home on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at his home in Cairo, GA.
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Trey Ferrell, Fletcher Powe, Dyllon Powe, Ethan Meadows, Jack Jones and Chris Hosey.
Mr. Meadows was born on March 10, 1934, in Grady County, GA, to the late Mitchell and Edna Harrison Meadows. On November 22, 1956, he married the one and only love of his life, Carolyn Sellers, who survives. He dedicated his life to spreading God’s word as a Baptist Pastor. He served Grady, Thomas, Mitchell and Brooks Counties until retiring. He served in the U. S. Army. He loved spending time with his wife, children, grand-children and his little buddy dog, Peanut. He loved watching humming birds outside his bedroom window and would be sure to let you know each time one visited.
Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Sellers Meadows of Cairo, GA; his five children, Teresa Jones (Elzie) of Cairo, GA; Dwayne Meadows (Cindy) of Cairo, GA, Pam Powe (Marty) of Cairo, GA, and Amy Bengston (Joey) of Cairo, GA, Jason Meadows (Karen) of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren, Eric Elkins (Heather), Courtney Hosey (Chris), Jack Jones, Autumn J. Waters (Brent), Amber J. Tuggle (Will), Jennifer Lee (Marcus), Travis Drake, Fletcher Powe (Julie), Dyllon Powe , Trey Ferrell (Fiancée April), Claley Harrell, Tyler Bengston, Heather Bengston, Ethan Meadows, Ellie Meadows and Miles Meadows; he is survived by twenty great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Meadows Morey, Genova Meadows Carlton; sister-in-law, Letha Meadows; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to his caregiver, Sherry Jackson and the loving neighbors of the Village At Wedgewood.
He was preceded in death by: parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Talmadge and Vivian Sellers; brothers, Vernon Meadows, Sr., Billy Meadows; sisters, Geroline Morey; brother-in-law, Leon Sellers; great-grandson, Little Timothy.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, July 13, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
