Joe Ashley Cox
October 3, 1940 – April 12, 2022

Funeral services for Joe Ashley Cox, 81, of Selma, AL, are at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 16, 2022, in the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Denny Norman will officiate.  Services will conclude at the chapel.  Private interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, GA.  Mr. Cox passed away at Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma, AL, on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

Active pallbearers will be Adrien Cox, Avery Cox, Garrett Fullerton, Ryan Fullerton, Carson Terry and Zack Terry.

Mr. Cox was born on October 3, 1940, in Camilla, GA, to the late Clyde James Cox and Hazel Ross Cox.  On July 11, 1964, he married Nina Carlton Cox, who survives.  He served his county in the United States Army.  Joe was a proud graduate of Auburn University in Auburn, AL, where he graduated in 1963 with a degree in industrial engineering.  While living in Albany, GA, he was a member of the Exchange Club and was a former Mr. Exchange.  He was a retired manufacturing engineer with Bush Hog, Inc.  He was a member of the Barrett Road United Methodist Church in Selma, AL.  His greatest love in life was his family.

Survivors include: his wife, of 57 years, Nina Cox of Selma, AL; children, Jeff Cox of Selma, AL, Allison Fullerton (Sean) of Orlando, FL, Amy Terry (Jason) of Winter Garden, FL; and grandchildren, Adrien Cox, Avery Cox, Ashley Cox, all of Birmingham, AL, Garrett Fullerton, Ryan Fullerton, both of Orlando, FL, Carson Terry, Zack Terry, both of Winter Garden, FL.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his sister, Martha Cox; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Oris and Blanche Carlton; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Darinda Elkins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Cox’s memory to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home immediately following the funeral service.
