James Donald Watts, Sr.
March 30, 1944 – August 24, 2022

Memorial services for James Donald Watts, Sr., 78, of Cairo, GA, are at 3:00 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2022, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Mr. Watts passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, FL, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

Mr. Watts was born on March 30, 1944, in Cairo, GA, to the late Otis Watts and Lavada Atkins Martin.  On August 18, 1978, he married Barbara Jean Busby Watts, who survives.  She was the love of his life for 44 years.  He was a welder.  He was of the Baptist faith and a member at Pine Forest Baptist Church.

Donald was a quiet person. He loved his family and had a special bond with his granddaughter, Whitney Olds and great-grandson Shorty who always called him “granddaddddy.”  They were thick as thieves.  Also, Finley Jasper Jones who wrestled with each other often.  He also had two special nephews, Dennis Watts of Meigs, GA and Neil Watts from Spence, GA.  He was a man of humor and always made people laugh.  He will be greatly missed by many.  Donald will always be in our hearts.

Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Jean Watts of Cairo, GA; children, Deborah Watts of Climax, GA, Monte Watts of Climax, GA, James D. Watts, Jr. (Amanda) of Climax, GA, Phillip B. Watts (Carol) of Bainbridge, GA, Amanda Powell (Lonnie Woodell) of Cairo, GA, Phillip M. Watts of Cairo, GA;  grandchildren, Landon Watts, Bradley Watts, Brandon Watts, Brittney Watts, Heather Watts, Trey Watts, Ansley Watts, Blake Easters, Brian Nix (Christy), Cody Nix (Brittney), Whitney Olds (David), Sara Branham (Kyle), Timothy Sadler, Finley Jasper Jones; host of great-grandchildren; brothers, David Watts of Spence, GA, Johnny Harrell of Valdosta, GA; sister, Patricia Cox of Valdosta, GA; and a special friend, Jerome Carter.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Jimmy; and sister, Anne.

The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the funeral home.
