Betty Ansley Ponder
November 27, 1942 – March 22, 2017

Services for Betty Ansley Ponder, 74, of Ochlocknee, GA, will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Pine Forest Baptist Church, Ochlocknee, GA. Rev. Dennis Norman, Rev. Stan Godwin, and David Avery will officiate. Interment will be in Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Ponder passed away at Archbold Memorial Hospital, Thomasville, GA, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Mrs. Ponder was born on November 27, 1942, in Spence, GA, to the late Willie Israel Ansley and Margaret Annie Carroll Ansley. On June 16, 1979, she married Lee Edwin Ponder, Sr., who preceded her in death in April of 1984. Mrs. Ponder was in contract sales for many years with Sears, and before her retirement she worked as a preschool teacher. She was a devoted member of Pine Forest Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her daughter Nikki Avery (David) of Ochlocknee, GA; step-daughter, Cindy Albrecht (Wayne) of Jasper, GA; grandchildren, Reagan Avery, Olivia Avery, and Ashlyn Avery all of Ochlocknee, GA; step-grandchildren, Jamie Prince of Jasper, GA, Heather Lyons of South Carolina, Jared Ponder of Rome, GA, Kiley Albrecht of Jasper, GA, Isaac Albrecht of Jasper, GA; step-great-grandchildren, Payton Prince, Ella Prince, Henry Prince, and Nathan Lyons; brothers, James “J. D.” Ansley of Pelham, GA, Wayne Ansley (Marie) of Cairo, GA; sisters, Buice Hudson of Bradenton, FL, and Margie Anderson of Ochlocknee, GA; sisters-in-law, Ramona Ansley, of Cairo, GA, Jean Ansley of Cairo, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; step-son, Eddie Ponder; brothers, William Homer Ansley, T. J. Ansley, Wilbert Ansley, Albert Ansley, Larry Ansley; sister, Joyce Buckner; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Ansley, Katie Ansley, and Imogene Ansley.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour of 3:00 p.m. at Pine Forest Baptist Church on Sunday, March 26, 2017.
